Bermuda 2000: Interesting Sights

Here are pictures of some of the memorable sights from our trip.

A pelican on a post; Actual size=240 pixels wide

Here a picture of the inside of Fort Hamilton.

Moongate; Actual size=240 pixels wide

Here's a picture of a me under the Moongate in the Perfume Factory Garden. Moongates are a common site in Bermuda. Now, here's a question for you. What's the significance of the moongate, and where did it come from? OK, that's two questions, but does anyone know the answer? (I do, and I'll give it to you at a later date).

This is the entrance to the Crystal Caves, down the steps that are by the pink building. There are over 80 steps down into the caves (80 down, 80 up).

This is Hamilton. The white building looks like a church, and the one in the background reminds me of the Town Hall in Norwood.

This is a picture of the trees under the bridge leading to Fort Hamilton. You can walk through them on the paths underneath the bridge.

Did You Know?

Only one car is allowed per household in Bermuda, unless you are a doctor or veternarian.

The roofs of homes in Bermuda are so white because of the lime used to wash them. Each home has a water tank which holds the rain water collected from the roof. This water tank is the source of that home's bathroom and kitchen water. Even hotels and hospitals follow this practice as rain water is the only real water source in Bermuda.
