As seat-fillers we had the opportunity to be part of the pre-tape of the Awards Show. The footage videotaped before the show starts is edited down to the first few seconds the TV audience sees at the beginning of the actual Emmy Awards. Basically they walked down the "red carpet" of the main staircase, and we took pictures! Some of us even ended up in the final footage used ...

Not only was it our job to keep the seats filled at the Awards Show so that there appeared to be no empty seats as the cameras rolled (stars and others have to present awards, accept awards, stretch their legs, answer the call of nature, ... you get the idea), we were lucky enough to be asked to arrive early (some seatfillers arrive later) for the pre-tape! and it didn't cost us a cent to do so ... (Laura is a genius)

Laura wisely positioned herself at the end of the line at the pre-tape, so she could snap shots with the stars. Here she is with an actor I don't know (sorry!) and the actress who used to play Dr. Carly Manning on DOOL.

Here I am with Drake Hogestyn (John Black, Days of Our Lives). He pulled me out of the crowd and asked if I wanted to take a pic with him. He took it with the camera I had brought with me (my Mom's old camera which takes ghost photos -- oh, and you have to hold in the batteries under the duct tape for the flash to go off). I am so surprised that it came out at all!

When I returned to work the woman from Calvino's mentioned she watched the Emmys and saw me! So did Dr. Condon! Guess they used the footage of Drake taking the pic with me (hee hee) in the opening shots of the Emmys. Laura has yet to make me a copy of that tape. (ahem)
